The Electoral Commission has called on Ghanaians to disregard allegations of importation of faulty Biometric Verification Devices from Nigeria.
A recent post sighted on social media alleged that, the EC has smuggled spoilt BVDs from Neighbouring Nigeria into Ghana.
This is alleged to be used as exhibits to convince the eminent committee into buying into the faulty claim of the BDVs by the EC.
The Electoral Commission wishes to bring to the notice of the public of no such act or intention.
The EC therefore is calling on the public to be cautious of such dangerous elements who will stop at nothing to peddle falsehood with the sole aim of misinforming the good people of Ghana.
In a recent social media post, it is alleged that a truck ( later tracked to be two) was on an assignment.
One source gave vehicle number as GS 696-18. Vehicle transited residence of a prominent Minister of State at HO on or about 20-22 January and arrived in Accra on 22/ 23 January.
the post further alleged that the said vehicle moved to the Osu Castle and subsequently to the office of the EC at 1am.
Items noted in the truck were 7,000 pieces of new BVD machines and 2,800 of old BVD machines .
As perceived the EC intends to use the old ones to show the Committee the quality of the used BVDs.
