Two days ago, an online portal with name, MyNewsGh made a defamatory news story of the member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu referring to Ghanaians who complained with regards to the NPP Government as witches.
In a press release from the office of parliament’s communications department, it was noted that, the Minister never made such utterance but rather touched on the NPP’s achievements as remarkable.
The communication’s department is said to take such defamatory trending news as an exception and further reiterated that, Madam Ursula respects the rights of all persons in the country who openly share their opinions whether or not she agrees with them.
The MP said, she will always proclaim the jealous achievement made by the NPP Government over the years .
The general public are therefore urged to disregard and ignore the false publication where as apologies and retractions are expected from Mynewsgh and all other media houses who have sourced such libelous content without prove.
BENEATH IS THE LIBELOUS NEWS PUBLISHED
Minister of Communications, Madam Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has described persons complaining that the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) has done nothing as witches who deserved to be exorcised.
According to her, only persons with witchcraft will be lamenting they have not seen anything meaningful being embarked on since the Akufo-Addo government took over the reins of power on January 7, 2017
She, therefore, described individuals and groups engaging in what she describes as a “propaganda anthem” for stating that the NPP has done nothing for Ghanaians since it came to government in 2017 as witches
“If someone complains that since the NPP came he/she has not benefitted anything ask the person if he or she did not hear it raining when he got out and saw it is wet didn’t he see? Is this not witchcraft? When someone is complaining shut the person down”, she stated.
Listing some remarkable achievements by government within a short period to buttress her assertion, the minister described them as unprecedented and challenged the youth of the party to propagate the achievements to avoid further propaganda from its main political opponents.
“It is your duty to tell them I know in your house there is someone who is not paying school fees because Nana Akufo-Addo has taken up that responsibility. Let her know you were a hairdresser and ‘dumsor’ was affecting you and what is it you are saying today? Akufo-Addo has come to solve ‘dumsor and you are getting a lot of work to do. You too your ward was attending nursing training and you suffered to cater for his or her upkeep today he/she is benefitting from nursing training allowance”, she told the party youth.
Among the achievements which need to be trumpeted she said were in relation to promises made included; the digital address system, stabilization of the cedi, national ID card system, restoration of nursing trainee allowances, free Senior High School (SHS) programme and stabilizing our power to boost industrialization among others.
She said this at an NPP youth summit organized by the Ablekuma West.
She advised them to rise against all forms of propaganda by the NDC and also propagate the good works of the NPP including the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) programme that is serving as a stop-gap for unemployed university graduates.
